At its core, assessment is about description. Dr. Pohlman approaches assessment as a process of gathering clues that reveal a learner’s various abilities. As a neurodevelopmental psychologist, he considers abilities such as attention, memory, and language; these and other abilities are critical for learning and school success.
Dr. Pohlman provides coaching for organization, time management, planning, and study skills. Such abilities have been referred to as executive functions. He coaches students who are transitioning from middle school through college. The process includes identifying needs, setting goals, and then putting new tactics into action.
